Currently we are looking for Weld Inspector. Based in our Mississauga facility. The Weld Inspector is required to carry out visual inspection of welds to ensure work conforms to specifications, relevant codes, regulations, and customer requirements.

Main Duties:

Review traveler and Inspection & Test Plan requirements, notify Weld manager of any special processes/product requirements that do not have an approved weld procedure available.
Visual inspection of all weldments’ per ITP, ABS procedures or customer requirements including welding performed at subcontractor prior to release for next operation.
Ensure proper sign-off(s) and all quality documents are accurate and are maintained though out the manufacturing process (eg. traveler sign off, inspection records).
Monitor and review of welding processes including:
Confirmations of weld procedures & welder qualification performing the work;
Ensure filler metal used meets WPS requirements
Confirm current & Volt settings, gas mixture used per WPS are followed by welders.
Check pre-heats are maintained, review and ensure preheat charts are signed.
In conjunction with QC Supervisor coordinate all NDT inspections (before and after PWHT) up to the stage of releasing the weldments for machining.
Issue NCR(s) for non-conforming product as appropriate.
Prepare weld maps as appropriate (get customer approval when required prior to start).

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience as a certified welding inspector and currently certified to CSA W178.2 Level 2 Welding Inspector.
CGSB Level 2 certification in at least one NDT testing method such as magnetic particle, liquid penetrant and ultra sound inspection would be an asset.
Demonstrated understanding and application of Canadian Welding Standards CSA Z662, CSA W59 and ASME.
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawing and/or blueprints.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail
