QA Mechanical inspector will be responsible for inspection of miscellaneous parts manufactured at specific locations as per assigned project to ensure compliance with applicable codes and technical drawings, client specifications and local Health and Safety regulations. The inspector will perform visual, welding, dimensional, pre-shipment, and loading inspections; witness testing, prepare progress reports for the duration of the assigned projects on short-, medium-, and long-term basis. Reports to Operations Manager and Inspections Coordinator.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform tasks specified by inspection coordinator;
Plan and prepare for the inspection to be performed on specified site;
Ensure that all inspection equipment is in proper working condition and with valid calibration;
Review inspection and testing plans provided by manufacturers and their subcontractors and obtain other information (Purchase Order, Material Specification, Drawings, Procedures, etc.) required for carrying out the work;
Coordinate actions with the client and/or supplier with regards to the manufacturer's project calendar;
Ensure that onsite work completed at the client's location is consistent with the mandate, is completed on time and is conducted in a professional manner with meticulous attention to detail in order to provide excellent service;
Verify that the manufacturing processes are carried out in accordance with the technical drawings and data sheets approved by the client and follow client approved methods and procedures, and that the manufacturing processes are completed in accordance with the code requirements;
Perform visual inspections of the manufactured equipment;
Ensure that all tests are carried out in accordance with approved procedures and follow the approved Inspection and Test Plan;
Regularly inform the immediate supervisor and client of any progress made to ensure proper communications and a smooth workflow;
Ensure that the suppliers issue a report of non-compliance and inform the client immediately if non-compliance is identified at a work site;
Witness manufacturing testing and trial assemblies;
Prepare clear and concise reports within the prescribed time frames (usually 24 hours after completion);
Issue the release notes as applicable indicating customer acceptance for the equipment manufactured;
Education:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or metallurgy, or a college degree combined with significant and relevant experience may be considered as equivalent;
W178.2 Welding Inspector Level II or III certified;
Experience:
Five (5) to (10) years of supervisory experience in a factory;
Knowledge of materials processing techniques;
The following skills are considered as important assets: Knowledge of machining, Certified as a NACE coating inspector, Qualified in non-destructive testing, ASME qualified (National Board, Authorized Inspection, Authorized Inspector Supervisor) and/or API qualified (510 - Piping inspector, 570 - Pressure Vessels Inspector)

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and Interpersonal skills;
Bilingual English / French - written & verbal is an asset;
Analytical Skills:
Strong problem-solving ability; detail oriented and Decision-making skills;
Strong organizational and time management skills;
Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), Microsoft Outlook);
Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics;
Ability to work unsupervised, and team player;
Ability to gather information regarding the operation of the equipment or process;
Interpretation of the codes regarding different situations
Please note this is a Contractor position - hourly rates/invoice to be submitted to CSA Group for payment. No benefits included.
