Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
Complete QC checks using a CMM computer on variety of incoming, in-process and final sub assemblies, sub assemblies, components and parts for conformance to specifications.
Development of CMM inspection programs.
Document inspection and non-conformances.
Interpretation of engineering drawings and communicates with management to determine quality and reliability standards.
Deals with customers on issues pertaining to CMM inspection and data interpretation.
Performs mechanical and visual inspection as required.
Follows ABS established safety practices and regulations.
Specifications/Qualifications:
5 - 10 years experience in a custom/job shop environment (heavy structural steel experience an asset)
Ability to read GDNT, blueprint reading and advanced engineering drawings.
Skilled with mechanical inspection techniques of larger parts, over 30", using vernier and a variety of metrology equipment, such as calipers, inside, outside and depth micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges.
Knowledge of Pro PCDMIS 4.2 (Tutor 3.2 an asset)
Able to work overtime and shift work.
Strong analytical skills and a keen attention to detail.
Motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
