[Company] has an opening for a Geotechnical Engineer with 4 to 6 years of related experience at our Miami Lakes, FL office. As the successful candidate, you will be working on both small-scale and large-scale projects primarily in the heavy civil, residential, and retail/warehouse markets. You will assist with staff training and coordination, preparation of technical reports, specifications, plans, designing foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical aspects of construction. Candidate must be able to work effectively in the office and perform field inspections of geotechnical investigations and construction projects, if necessary. Possession of a strong technical education, practical field experience, professional demeanor, and desire to learn is essential to this position.
Job Requirements:
B.S. in Civil Engineering and a M.S. in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical specialty is strongly preferred;
Possess Professional Engineer licensure or ability to obtain within 1 year;
4 to 6 years of related geotechnical experience;
Ideally will possess a minimum of 3 years of field experience with geotechnical investigations and construction inspection experience;
Office experience with investigation coordination and assisting in geotechnical report writing;
Desired field experience in: driven and drilled pile construction, footings subgrade and backfill inspection, and excavation support system design and construction inspection;
Bilingual (written and verbal) English/Spanish communication skills strongly preferred, but not required;
Willingness and availability to travel and work for projects throughout the U.S. and in South America. This will require travel approximately 30 percent per year;
Experience in assisting project manager with field work coordination and project management support a plus;
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal;
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking and judgment capabilities;
Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
Some field work is required;
Possess reliable transportation to access job sites and a valid driver’s license in good standing; and,
Position requires work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.
