Introduction:
Our client is looking for an Occupational Health and Safety Manager for a project within the Gauteng region.
Minimum Requirements:
Degree in Environmental Health /Safety Management
5 years in a construction / mining / operational environment or a combination thereof
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
Samtrac
Construction regulation regulations, 2014
Registration with a recognised occupational health & safety professional body
Supplemented with: practical management experience, and additional short courses in safety management, construction management
Duties:
Give OHS input during design specification meetings
Draft OHS specifications and conduct risk assessment
Prepare documents and prepare at tender briefings
Evaluate aspects of health and safety in the tender documents together with the responsible project Manager
Attend handover meetings and provide the contractors with all the required OHS requirements
Provide OHS induction training/briefing to the appointed contractor before they commence with the work
Evaluate and approve all OHS documentation submitted by the contractor
Conduct monthly monitoring and audits inspections of the various principal contractors compliance to the approved OHS files and legal requirements
Conduct regular Behaviour Based Safety inspections for all projects
Attend monthly or regular progress meetings
Conduct regular workshops to include safety , health and environmental culture among contractors
Conduct investigations for all incidents/accidents arising out of project sites
Conduct project close out audits upon completion of projects
Conduct internal audit
