Introduction:
Our Client, a leading mining contractor is urgently looking for an experienced Resident Engineer for their Opencast mining operations in the Northern Cape.
Non-negotiable Requirements:
Must be a qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineer
GCC for Mines Compulsory
At least 5+ years’ previous experience in a management position in an opencast mining environment
Excellent Project Management skills
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
High level of Computer literacy
Beneficial:
Tertiary business qualification (MBA or equivalent)
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
Manage the maintenance team to ensure proper execution of engineering and maintenance functions
Ensure appropriate appointments in terms of the Mine, Health and Safety Act
Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, Environmental policies
Improve all levels of service delivery
Liaise with the production department to ensure that targets are achieved
Develop and maintain business relationships with key stakeholders
Manage and maintain all legal compliance
Conduct regular inspections
Develop and manage the operational budget
Ensure compliance and adherence to the budget
Ensure accurate recordkeeping of all statutory documents
Keep abreast of new technologies and developments in control and instrumentation
Ensure continuous improvement which will result in cost saving for the Company
Ensure accurate deliverance of technical engineering aspects such as OEM’s and SABS standards
Develop a maintenance strategy to minimize equipment and unit operations breakdowns
