Job Description
[Company] has an immediate openings for various Shift Manager maintenance positions within Primary and Finishing Operations at the Gary Complex.
These positions will supervise and direct the maintenance operations as they support the maintenance areas throughout the corporation. The ideal candidates will possess knowledge as it relates to integrated steel mill operations.
Position Duties:
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Administering the [Company] safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the operating facility
Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance with a team of mechanical/electrical maintenance staff.
Directly supervise union maintenance staff, and work closely with vendors/contractors as necessary.
Ensure environmental compliance.
Other administrative activities may include scheduling/pay crews, completing maintenance reports, and other reporting as necessary.
Utilizing management skills to supervise, direct, and coordinate the efforts of experienced technicians, craftsmen and project planners to repair and maintain mechanical equipment to keep the operations running at maximum efficiency with minimal interruption. Use technical knowledge and maintenance history of mechanical equipment to develop and implement preventative maintenance programs
Performing administrative activities such as scheduling crews, completing production reports, conducting safety conversations, and compiling other reporting as necessary by the operating facility
Applying engineering principles and problem solving techniques to evaluate and resolve mechanical conditions to maximize operating efficiencies.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred in Engineering discipline or equivalent years of demonstrated knowledge in heavy industrial maintenance environment
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a maintenance supervisor working in a manufacturing/industrial environment Good communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills are critical Prior experience in a union environment or similar military leadership experience is a plus
Strong leadership, planning, communication skills coupled with a sense of urgency. Good keyboard and computer skills a plus.
Must be able to work rotating shifts, extended workdays and weekends. 21 turn per week coverage.
Level and compensation based on experience.
