Job Description
Our Gary Works facility, located in Northwest Indiana has an immediate opening for a Shift Manager - Operations in Steelmaking & Casting North to handle various aspects of finishing/primary operations and to supervise and lead a team of unionized operation forces. This opening is within our Steel Producing operations.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Administration of the [Company] safety program to ensure a safe work environment, including proper housekeeping
Application of engineering principles and problem solving techniques to evaluate and resolve operating issues to maximize efficiencies
Use technical knowledge, equipment documentation, safety procedures to produce iron and/or sheet and tin products.
Coordinate production of manufacturing with production staff
Directly supervise union production staff, and work closely with vendors and contractors as necessary
Ensure environmental compliance
Other administrative activities may include scheduling/paying crews, completing production reports, and other reporting as necessary.
Requirements:
Experience in heavy manufacturing
Knowledge of steel making or manufacturing operation
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Management discipline is preferred or equivalent years of demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing operation in a heavy industrial environment
Minimum 2 years working in an industrial atmosphere.
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
Ideal candidate will have experience/background in Basic Oxygen (Q-BOP) & Metallurgical Process.
