Description
This position’s primary responsibilities include at the direction of the pit foreman, moving drill to designated location within quarry and safely maneuvers into position to drill blast holes.
Operates unit to drill holes according to drill pattern. Maintains bits and
changes steel as required.
Inspects and maintains drill’s mechanisms, lubricant system and fluid levels.
Makes minor repairs by replacing gaskets, hammers, filters, etc., and assists mechanic in making repairs as required. Completes drilling and blasting reports as required. Collars and tubes drill holes and assists blasters in loading shots.
Qualifications
Employee is expected to operate equipment unit with a high degree of
competence, skill and proficiency and shall:
Performs duties safely, responsibly and proficiently observing all safety and health rules.
Performs pre-shift and post-shift safety inspections and completes daily equipment reports.
Reports unsafe mechanical conditions to foreman and supervisor.
Performs a variety of duties as directed in addition to those described herein.
Successful candidate should have 2-3 years of prior drilling experience.
