[Company] is currently seeking a Sr. Plan Checker to work out of our Walnut Creek, CA office at a part-time basis.
Responsibilities:
Examine engineering and design drawings for accuracy, completeness and sound design to prescribed standards and contractual requirements
Check and perform detailed tolerance and dimensional fits and clearances on assemblies along with material requirements and construction notes
Investigate drawing errors and recommends solutions
Correct errors in calculations, dimensions and design specifications as needed
Suggest design changes in the course of checking where simplicity, constructability and cost saving in design can be achieved
Collaborate with drafters, designers and engineers
Exercise authority to reject incorrect documentation in terms of technical content, standards, and specifications
Interpret and apply relevant design policies and procedures
Support design standards development and revisions. Recommend changes to standards, policies, and procedures as required
Mentor junior design staff
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; plus a minimum of 20 years of design experience plus 5 years as a checker; or 10 years as an engineer and 2 years as a checker
3D CADD modeling experience
Prefer design experience with relevant applications in a pipeline engineering and design
