Role Details
Gold Fields Australia are currently seeking an Underground Mine Foreman to join the Underground Mining team at Agnew Gold Mine.
Reporting to the Unit Manager: Underground Mining, you will be responsible for full compliance with Gold Fields standards whilst ensuring the delivery of operational targets in a safe, productive and efficient manner.
This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.
Key responsibilities will include:
Maintain and uphold the requirements of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations.
Maintain a high standard of housekeeping throughout the work area contributing towards a safe and efficient work environment to reduce the risk of incidents or injury and the existence of potential hazards.
Conduct regular inspections of the work area to proactively address any adverse safety and production impacts.
Maintain a working knowledge of all task instructions & procedures ensuring that these are consistently adhered to in the operation of the mine.
Demonstrate a high level of knowledge and proficiency in running the different facets of an underground mining operation including but not limited to development, explosives, scaling, support, bogging (tele-remote and conventional), jumbo operation, maintenance, ventilation, dewatering and production.
Actively promote training to ensure competency levels are attained and maintained in all aspects of and mobile equipment and plant.
Open communication and encouragement of teamwork through all levels and disciplines in the underground operation and coordination with Technical Services.
Assist in the effective control of production related costs by optimising the use of allocated resources, training of new operators, mining to plan and reporting any alterations to mining plan.
Ensure all contractors on site comply with Gold Fields standards and schedules.
Key factors to your success include;
At least 10 years’ experience in an underground mining environment – preferably gold
Underground Supervisors Certificate of Competency
Manual driver’s license, Advanced First Aid training
Basic – Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred previous experience as an UG Mine Foreman
Frontline Management or other supervisor training
