[C] U.S. Steel [/C] Great Lakes Works, a fully integrated steel producer located in SE Michigan, is seeking candidates for a Process Coordinator Blast Furnace Maintenance position. This position is responsible for coordinating and supporting operations and productivity activities performed by personnel and shift managers at the Blast Furnace.
Responsibilities
Administer the [C] U.S. Steel [/C] safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the Blast Furnace facilities.
Coordinate and provide direction for the maintenance shift managers in the Blast Furnace facility.
Perform root cause analysis of issues and lead development and implementation of corrective actions to improve area safety, quality and overall reliability.
Provide technical support as required: Apply engineering principles and problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques to analyze equipment performance problems and expedite resolution.
Champion continuous improvement projects and drive employee engagement and suggestions from all levels of the organization.
Motivate and mentor maintenance shift managers to achieve targets for division and corporate metrics.
Participate in division maintenance budget development and monitor spending to ensure compliance.
Recommend major maintenance, outage and capital improvement projects for the division
Administrative activities including crew scheduling, safety system tracking, downtime reports, project justification reports and procedure review.
Requirements
Minimum 8 years Electrical experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial/manufacturing equipment (programmable logic controllers, drive systems, AC/DC motors, HMIs and display systems, instrumentation, switches, sensors, rectifiers, power distribution systems, etc...)
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology or equivalent
Understanding of PLC's and Power Distribution
Familiar with MIOSHA, NFPA, and NEC codes and regulations
Good communication and problem solving skills are critical
Minimum 5 years combined experience as a maintenance supervisor or controls engineer working in a manufacturing/industrial environment
Prior experience in the steel industry or managing in a union environment is a plus.
