Job Description :
The Distribution Center Manager is the site manager directly supervising warehouse employees in the distribution center and carries out manager responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Plans, directs, and coordinates all restocking and shipment activity through supervision of workers engaged in daily operation of the distribution center. The Distribution Center Manager is responsible for personnel development, including hiring, training, performance management and compensation.
Job duties include:
Hiring, coaching, developing, and leading a team of distribution professionals. Managing the overall performance of the distribution center, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction, achieving the location's goals, managing a budget, and solving operational and personnel issues.
Ensures all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met
Ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with applicable government regulations including OSHA policies and procedures
Adheres to all safety procedures in the performance of job duties
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve goals
Responsible for corporate equipment, facilities and personnel
Ensures adherence to company policies for workers and enforces safety regulations
Responsible for cost management for improvements, supplies, labor, freight and equipment
Reviews production and operating reports and directs the resolution of operational problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
Job Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred; High School diploma (or equivalent) plus 7 years’ direct related experience will be considered in lieu of degree
Minimum of five years’ experience managing Distribution Center operations required
Budgeting experience preferred
Experience working with Lean Manufacturing principles a plus
Working knowledge of Oracle preferred
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to identify safety hazards and resolve them
Ability to work with cross functional teams & departments
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software
Good written and oral skills
Interpersonal skills
Working Conditions:
Working Environment: Shop and manufacturing office environment
Physical Demands: Manufacturing shop environment with personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection and metatarsal guard safety boots)
Travel Requirements: Limited domestic and international travel may be required
Key Relationships: Plant manager, manufacturing managers, Logistics Process Owner, Inside Sales, QVS team members, Global Transportation and Warehousing functions
