Job Description
[Company] is seeking a Cost Accountant to join our team. The Cost Accountant is responsible for various general accounting processes, which may include but is not limited to: transactional accounting procedures, reconciling and analysis of general ledger accounts, and assisting in monthly close process.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop knowledge regarding the cost accounting and the general ledger software and prepare and post journal entries
Investigate errors on customer invoices and make corrections
Set standard costs for material
Accurately value cost-of-goods sold and production transactions
Apply costs to invoices for non-standard and local purchases of inventory.
Communicate with plant personnel in order to solve communication problems regarding production, receiving, invoicing, transfers and inventory related issues, and, train them in proper procedures.
Investigate the causes of errors and develop and implement solutions.
Insure accuracy of transactional information through proper application of company procedures and GAAP.
Provide management with monthly and ad-hoc manufacturing analyses.
Analyze and post production reporting
Set and analyze standards for material and labor costs
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to inventory
Assist in the preparation of year-end external audit information
Provide various reports and analyses as needed
Attend physical inventories and value counts. (One week per month January to April is required.
Assist with other accounting related activities as time allows
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance.
2+ years of cost accounting experience, manufacturing environment preferred.
Must be a self-starter and able to deliver results by meeting monthly and yearly closing deadlines.
Strong organizational, problem solving and follow-up skills. Strong attention to detail.
Strong communication skills
Solid computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Access.
Microsoft Dynamics experience is a plus.

Required to have close visual acuity to perform duties
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
