The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Superintendent Concentrator Training based at our Oyu Tolgoi, to lead a small team of training professionals to develop training programs for Concentrator employees to develop and improve their skills to achieve safety and production goals. The role will play an integral part in employee development, ensuring operators and contractors perform their assigned tasks safely and competently.
The Oyu Tolgoi Project in Mongolia is a greenfield project consisting of open pit and underground mines, processing plant and supporting infrastructure to produce high grade copper and gold concentrates.
What the role entails
This position is a great opportunity for a proactive team player with the ability to work under pressure across the Oyu Tolgoi value chain in tight schedules within a continuously changing and complex environment. Reporting to the General Manager Finance, you will be:
Developing and mentoring a world class national training team and ensuring high level of training and knowledge transfer is delivered
Designing and executing a skill based, competency training system within the concentrator for electrical, instrumentation, millwright, welding, operations teams with a continual focus on hazard awareness and reduction
Supporting the Health and Safety department and leading safety related training modules to implement zero harm knowledge and behaviour
Driving and promoting a zero harm approach to safety through visible and proactive safety leadership
What you will need for this role
To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, you will have:
A Certificate IV Workplace Training and Assessment or International equivalent (referred as Red Seal in America and Canada)
Familiarity with e-learning and learning management systems
Experience in the development of formal training packages
Demonstrated experience in the training of Operators and Maintainers in a mining context
Previous experience in the training and in passing on skills and knowledge to a developing or national workforce
Experienced in embedding safe working practices and protocols within the context of a national workforce
A tertiary qualification in Training, Education, Health and Safety, Human Resources or equivalent related field will be desirable. Experience in contractor management will be highly regarded. Experience in project management will be advantageous.
