Here’s a game you can teach your more advanced students, and we can play here in order to show members who visit this thread at some future time how to play … and to sharpen our wits!
The first player writes (or says) two words (proper nouns are okay). The second player uses the second word of the phrase to create the next phrase, but only thinking of the second word (not using it) to link it to another implied two-word phrase, and so on.
Three-word phrases are not permitted, nor one or four or any other number. The response must be two words (hyphenated words are okay).
Example:
Player 1: green apple
Second player thinks ‘apple jelly’, but does not say this, only uses the second word that s/he is only thinking along with some other new word. Hence:
Player 2: jelly bean
Third player thinks ‘bean salad’ so says
Player 3: salad days
Player 4: off season
So, the fourth player was thinking ‘days off’, but says ‘off season’.
