VM Drilling are working all over Australia and this in turn means that you will be expected to work in challenging environments. We have rigs on existing mine sites where accommodation is supplied however when our rigs are in remote locations we supply top of the range caravans and sleeping quarters. As an Offsider you will be expected to live and work in extreme conditions ranging from hot dry to wet muddy.
Job Description:
The major objective of an Offsider is to assist their Driller, this may include driving light vehicles and trucks to transport personnel, materials and equipment to and from various sites.
General Duties of an Offsider can include:
Assist in sample collection
Reporting Safety, Health and Environmental hazards and deficiencies to his/her Supervisor
Applying safe practices towards self, colleagues, the public and the environment
Carrying out daily checks on vehicles to ensure good operations
Carrying out periodic preventative maintenance
Ensure vehicles and equipment have adequate fuel and lubricants
Follow vehicles'maintenance schedule closely
Assist with drilling activites
Assist with housekeeping activites at site
Offsiders are required to have the following before being considered for employment:
MUST have a current HR licence
Current Mine Health Surveillance
Current MARCSTA
Current Police Clearance
Pre employment medical and drug and alcohol screen
Senior First Aid certificate is desirable
VM Drilling encourage all employees to further their careers. This is done by enrolling all employees in various certificates which when completed in full employees can become Qualified Drillers.
